Aaron Thomas Hinds Owner, Artist
I am Aaron Thomas Hinds, a lifelong artist hailing from Tyler, Texas. From my earliest memories, I've been drawn to the world of art, with a passion that remains unwavering. My artistic journey led me to study landscape architecture in college, but it was a transformative experience during a study abroad program in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy at the Santa Chiara study center that crystallized my desire to pursue a career as a professional artist, particularly in the realm of oil painting which I learned rrom Italian Master Pallo Barucchieri.
After completing my studies, I ventured to Manhattan, New York in pursuit of artistic opportunities. Fate led me to the New York Mercantile Exchange, where I was present during the tragic events of September 11th, narrowly escaping the disaster. In the aftermath, my desire to contribute positively compelled me to paint a powerful tribute to the heroes of that day, titled "Ode to Heroes," a piece that now resides in the Museum of the City of New York.
Having spent over a decade in New York, I eventually returned to Tyler in 2014. In recent years, my focus has been on capturing the life of Jesus Christ through a contemporary lens, resulting in a collection of paintings titled "The Life That Changed the World." Illustrating the life of Christ. Despite challenges in finding suitable gallery space in East Texas, I embarked on a journey to establish my own art gallery.
The Hinds Fine Art Gallery & Event Space, located within the expansive old Sears building, became the embodiment of my vision. With an aim to elevate Tyler's artistic landscape, the gallery showcases local talent and fosters a spirit of collaboration and innovation. The forthcoming East Texas Art Collective will further amplify the region's creative prowess.
In collaboration with the city and business leaders, the gallery envisions transforming Tyler into an art-centric destination by enhancing its outdoor aesthetics through murals and digital art projections. The gallery's dynamic team is dedicated to curating a diverse calendar of events, from concerts to unique community spaces like the proposed Tea Room lounge.
Future plans include a live music stage, darkroom film development facilities, and a photography studio. The gallery's versatile mid-century modern space is poised to host weddings, corporate functions, and civic events. The ultimate goal is to transform Tyler into the premier arts destination of East Texas.
Through this journey, I've been profoundly touched by the gratitude of Tyler's residents, who see the gallery as a beacon of artistic expression and community enrichment. It's a place where creativity thrives, and I'm proud to contribute to Tyler's cultural evolution.
