Scripture in oil, painted from beyond this world.

Biblical paintings by Tyler, Texas artist Aaron Thomas Hinds.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Aaron Hinds is an oil painter based in Tyler, Texas. His work carries on the tradition of the biblical and historical masters, retelling scripture in his own style: layered and full of motion. Each scene is painted as if from beyond the physical world, not from where the people in it stood.

“I felt like a fresh take on the life of this undeniably historical God-man, was needed. Jesus changed the world in only three years, without an army or a famous family name. I am honored to have a hand in creating contemporary depictions of the miraculous birth, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus the Christ.”

East Texas’s hub for creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

A Daily Occurrence Designer Hoodie
from $75.00

“A Daily Occurrence”

Luke 4:38-41 describes a chaotic scene in which Jesus heals Simon's mother-in-law (seen rejoicing in front of the house, dressed in pink). Jesus, prominently depicted at the center, then begins to heal the sick and rebuke evil spirits from a large crowd, as had become customary by the second year of his public ministry. John 21:25 explains that Jesus performed so many acts that, if every one were recorded, "they could fill volumes." This is why Jesus, unlike any other, changed the world in three years without a renowned family name or an army—an unprecedented feat before or since.

Daughter of Abraham Healed Designer Hoodie
from $75.00

“A Daughter of Abraham, set free”

36x48” oil on canvas. Luke 13:10-17

Jesus heals a woman who had suffered from a “spirit” causing her to be dent at the waist for “eighteen years.” The pharisees constantly stalked Jesus waiting for a moment to impune him. This time they tried to make a case out of the fact that Jesus healed on the Sabbath, thereby violating the Hebrew law. To which Christ replied “Did not each of you bring your donkey to water this morning? How much value does a daughter of Abraham have?” Silencing the rulers to the delight of the crowd. The temple sits alone, (horizon left) with a small group breaking from the main, condemning the event. I show the woman’s spine and brain being activated, as Jesus walks through the open door of her heart.
